Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant Role
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils with Autism across EYFS, Key Stage 1, and Key Stage 2.
About the Job
* This is a full-time role, ideally, but part-time hours will be considered for the right candidate.
The ideal candidate will have previous experience working with children with Autism and challenging behaviour.
Key Responsibilities
* Support pupils with Autism and other Special Educational Needs to access the curriculum and engage in learning.
* Assist in managing challenging behaviours using appropriate strategies and interventions.
* Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to deliver personalised learning support.
* Implement behaviour management plans and support positive behaviour throughout the school day.
* Assist pupils' communication needs using tools such as PECs or other visual aids.
* Support pupils' social, emotional, and developmental needs in line with individual education plans (IEPs).
* Maintain accurate records of pupil progress and support ongoing assessment.
* Promote a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment.
Requirements
* Relevant Teaching Assistant qualification is desirable.
* Eligibility to work in the UK.
* Recent experience working with children within the last two years.
* Experience supporting pupils with Autism and special educational needs.
* Excellent understanding of the national curriculum and assessment frameworks.
* Previous experience working across KS3, KS4, and KS5 is advantageous.
* Ability to provide two professional references from recent roles working with children.
* Hold a current DBS registered with the update service or be willing to apply for a new one.
