ABOUT THE ROLE
The Audit Executive is part of a team that handles tax office audits, internal audits, and "health checks". This key role sits on the front line of SimplyVAT's interactions with external stakeholders, including clients and various national tax authorities. Applying your VAT knowledge and analytical skills, you will consistently strive to achieve the best outcomes for our clients. This is an exciting role that will enable you to expand on your existing knowledge of VAT and indirect taxation, and work collaboratively with people all over the world, to help small and medium sized businesses navigate difficult periods in their growth and development.
What You'll Do
* Complete our clients' audit and health check requests accurately and within the required deadlines.
* Maintain an accurate ledger of incoming, ongoing and completed audits and health checks.
* Maintain timely and accurate time keeping records for billing purposes.
* Maintain appropriate and professional correspondence with clients, tax authorities and agents as necessary.
* Work collaboratively with the Client Manager assigned to the account and the remainder of the Professional Services Team as required.
* Keep track of emerging trends in audits and health checks for input to management.
* Lead, participate in and complete special projects, as assigned, to a high standard of quality and to schedule.
* Help train new team members as required and participate in any knowledge transfer opportunities (both imparting and acquiring knowledge) with SimplyVAT colleagues, to achieve our business goals.
* Apply knowledge, experience, initiative and sound judgement to situations encountered day-to-day.
* Escalate as appropriate any matters to the Professional Services Manager, to produce high quality deliverables.

What You'll Need
· Demonstrated experience in VAT and indirect taxation in the EU and globally.
· Demonstrated experience with complex VAT compliance, especially in the e-commerce field.
· Direct experience in interpreting legal and taxation rules and correspondence, and familiarity with legal and taxation-based jargon.
· Experience working with various EU tax offices.
· Advanced Microsoft Excel, including manipulating data, using formulas and pivot tables.
· Proficient in Windows and MS Office suite, as well as other web-based tools.
· Formal education in taxation/accountancy (highly desirable).
· Written and spoken fluency in English and at least one other European language (German highly desirable).
· Exceptional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to effectively and confidently communicate with both technical and non-technical audiences.
· Demonstrated logical and analytical thinking and excellent customer service skills.
· Exceptional time management and organisation skills, together with the proven ability to prioritise challenging workloads and to achieve business priorities and key deliverables in a fast-paced environment.
· Demonstrated high standards of excellence in work output and professionalism.
· Excellent attention to detail and ability to work to tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
