Supply Chain Manager

Role Purpose/Objective:
Reporting into the Head of Procurement, the Supply Chain Manager role is essential for the successful delivery of projects. The position is responsible for all sub-contractor activities, including appraisals, tendering, contract awards, and performance metrics.
The successful candidate must demonstrate the ability to collaborate across multiple departments such as estimating, commercial, construction, and finance, to improve efficiencies, reduce costs, and eliminate waste within our supply chain.
Experience with relationships with subcontractors and manufacturers across key construction trades, along with excellent product knowledge, is essential. The candidate should be capable of influencing and managing both externally and internally for the benefit of the business.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Manage the entire sub-contract supply chain from pre-tender to post-contract performance reviews.
2. Build and maintain relationships with new and existing subcontractors.
3. Respond to site communications regarding supply chain queries professionally and efficiently.
4. Engage early with the estimating team to support project planning.
5. Collaborate with estimating, commercial, and construction teams to understand project requirements and constraints.
6. Evaluate and select subcontractors based on quality, cost, and performance.
7. Address issues such as delays, quality concerns, or material shortages.
8. Monitor and control costs within the supply chain to ensure projects stay on schedule and budget.
9. Identify cost-saving opportunities and strategies to improve supply chain performance.
10. Conduct regular reviews of the supply chain performance.
11. Provide updates on supply chain activities regularly.
12. Resolve disputes or issues with subcontractors to ensure smooth project execution.
13. Work with key stakeholders to clarify specifications and expectations.
14. Visit sites frequently to review, record, and report on subcontractor performance.
Experience and Skills Required:
* Previous experience in supply chain management within construction or a related industry.
* Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
* Understanding of construction materials and industry standards.
* Strong organizational and project management skills.
* Proficiency in procurement software and MS Office.
* Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
