Job Description
The M25 is one of our flagship projects in the UK! It is the most used part of the UK Strategic Road Network, seeing over 200,000 vehicles per day. This critical infrastructure asset requires high performance, continuous improvement and repairs to keep it running smoothly. We have formed a Joint Venture, Connect Plus Services (CPS), to widen, operate and maintain the M25 under a 30‑year contract until 2039. We are looking for a Mechanical and Electrical Engineer to join our team on the M25 DBFO project, undertaking technical reviews and providing direction and leadership for design projects, managing timelines and external consultants, and ensuring effective communication.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide technical assurance and reviews of design proposals, ensuring alignment with project goals, the DMRB and relevant standards; lead engineering reviews to drive innovative, safe, and asset‑appropriate solutions.
* Challenge design and contractor proposals.
* Support the CPS business by advising on overall renewal strategies.
* Support liaison with National Highways (SES) on technical issues and submissions.
* Ensure designs are delivered in accordance with CPS Quality Management Processes, internal standards and CDM Regulations.
* Lead the design and technical delivery of M&E projects from concept through to construction.
* Provide technical leadership and consultancy to the Design and Engineering Team.
* Coordinate the design and sequencing of multi‑disciplinary schemes within the tunnel environment to ensure integrated solutions.
* Lead innovation and continual improvement in the delivery of schemes and techniques used in design and construction.
* Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to develop design solutions.
* Lead the engineering of work packages, support and challenge scheme direction and design options via the Gateway review process.
Qualifications
REQUIRED
* Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or a related field preferred.
* Proven experience in mechanical and electrical projects.
* Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* A keen eye for detail.
* Familiarity with the DMRB, MCHW and British and European regulations and standards.
* Ability to work collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment.
* Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and timelines.
* Passion for design and a desire to contribute to a creative team.
* Be a member of a professional body.
* Be professionally qualified or working towards professional qualification.
