Senior Pharmacist, Acute Medicine and ED Service
The primary role of this senior post is to lead on the management and provision of a comprehensive, high quality pharmacy service to patients within Emergency and Acute Medicine across the Trust. The post holder will deliver pharmacy related care to these patients Trust wide and support the directorate(s) as needed. This will include providing clinical pharmacy leadership, governance support, education and training, providing expert advice and delivering patient centred care.
Interviews are proposed for 12 November 2025. Secondment will be considered for internal candidates – if you are successful after interview, you must obtain approval from your current line manager to accept the offer. Successful applicants will be required to provide an immunisation and vaccination report, from either their current UK occupational health provider or their UK GP.
Responsibilities
* Provide effective clinical and medicines management service to patients admitted and discharged through the Emergency Care Department and Direct Access Pathways of the Trust.
* Identify areas within Emergency Care and Acute Medicine services where improvements in quality, safety and cost effectiveness of pharmaceutical care and prescribing may be encouraged.
* Work with senior staff to review and develop policies and procedures to ensure safe and effective handling of medications.
* Lead, develop and deliver education and training in the pharmaceutical aspects of Emergency Care and Acute Medicine to other healthcare professionals.
