Borders General Hospital is a modern, well-equipped 284-bed District General Hospital serving the rural Borders area in South East Scotland, approximately 36 miles from Edinburgh.
The Role
The post is suitable for those who have completed Core Surgical Training or equivalent. Successful candidates will join a team of 8 Consultants, 4 Specialty Doctors, and 2 Specialty Trainees. Responsibilities include the day-to-day care of Trauma & Orthopaedic patients, active participation in clinics and theatre sessions, and close liaison with the Emergency Department. A 1 in 6 duty rota includes evening and weekend work but no overnight commitments.
Candidates must be fully registered with the General Medical Council with a license to practice. Applicants should demonstrate attainment of at least ST3 competencies (or equivalent) and have appropriate postgraduate medical experience in Orthopaedics and Trauma within a specialty training program or equivalent.
