As a Daily Supply Secondary Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students aged 11-18 and class teachers during short-term absences or periods of increased need. You will work across various secondary school departments, assisting with learning activities, managing classroom dynamics, and contributing to a positive and productive educational environment for young adults. This role is perfect for TAs who thrive on variety and prefer to work without the long-term commitments of a permanent position.

Responsibilities:

1. Supporting the class teacher in managing the classroom and maintaining a positive learning atmosphere for secondary-aged students.
2. Assisting individual pupils or small groups with their learning activities, particularly in core subjects or specific departments.
3. Helping to prepare and organise learning resources and classroom displays for secondary classrooms.
4. Supporting students with challenging behaviours, promoting positive engagement and de-escalation strategies.
5. Monitoring student progress and providing feedback to the class teacher. Assisting with the supervision of students during non-classroom times (e.g., breaks, lunch), if required.
6. Adapting support to meet the diverse needs of students across different key stages and subjects.

Requirements:

7. Proven experience working as a Teaching Assistant in a school setting.
8. Strong understanding of how to support adolescent learning and manage classroom behaviour effectively.
9. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with teenagers, staff, and parents.
10. Patience, empathy, resilience, and a genuine passion for supporting young people’s development and academic progress.
11. Flexibility, adaptability, and a proactive approach to working in different secondary school environments.
12. Reliability and punctuality are essential for daily supply work. An enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one through us.
13. A strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
