As a Java Lead Software Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within the Client Onboarding & Know Your Customer technology group, you are an integral part of an agile team that works to enhance, build, and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. As a core technical contributor, you are responsible for developing critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm's business objectives.
Job responsibilities
* Execute creative software solutions, design, develop, and troubleshoot technical issues, thinking beyond routine approaches to build solutions or resolve problems.
* Develop secure, high-quality production code; review and debug code written by others.
* Identify opportunities to automate or eliminate recurring issues to improve operational stability of software applications and systems.
* Lead evaluation sessions with external vendors, startups, and internal teams to assess architectural designs, technical credentials, and suitability for use within existing systems.
* Lead communities of practice across Software Engineering to promote awareness and adoption of new and emerging technologies.
* Contribute to fostering a team culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
* Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts and practical experience.
* Hands-on experience in system design, application development, testing, and maintaining operational stability.
* Proficiency in one or more programming languages, such as Java.
* Experience with automation and continuous delivery methodologies.
* Comprehensive understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle.
* Advanced knowledge of agile methodologies like CI/CD, application resiliency, and security.
* Proficiency in software applications and technical processes within disciplines such as cloud, AI, machine learning, or mobile development.
* Experience building enterprise applications with high availability and performance using technologies like J2EE, Spring, ORM, Kafka, Elasticsearch, and Distributed Cache.
* Hands-on experience with UI frameworks like React.
* Proficiency in SQL and database development.
* Experience managing technologists and building large enterprise applications beyond simple REST endpoints, following the 12-factor methodology.

* Experience working at the code level.
