We believe strongly in looking after our staff’s welfare and we are seeking to recruit an Interim Inpatient Service Manager for a period of initially up to 6 months. The successful applicant will also be key member of our Senior Management Team in the Glasgow City area.
The successful applicant will be expected to work collegiately and collaboratively with other members of the SMT in order to ensure high standards of patient care are maintained. They will also be able to demonstrate a commitment to continuous service improvement and to the ongoing development and support of staff for whom they have responsibility.
The post holder is needed to support the Head of Service to provide leadership, safe and effective management of services within the Hospital, to ensure robust and safe staffing which minimises clinical and non-clinical risk, clinical governance activity and monitoring which includes care assurance, standards compliance, professional regulation, responding to complaints, staff governance, legislative frameworks, national and board policy and guidelines implementation, monitoring nursing clinical activity and workforce issues and ensuring resource efficient are critical aspects of the role.
The applicant should have significant experience at Band 7 level, be a Registered Mental Health Nurse and demonstrate excellent leadership skills. Effective written and verbal communication skills including negotiation, influencing, persuading, facilitating and conflict resolution are also a requirement of the role. The applicant should be motivated and have the ability to work to tight deadlines whilst providing assurance regarding person centred effective care delivery within clinical settings and ensuring professional accountability.

As from 1st April 2026, the Agenda for Change full-time working week will be reducing from 37 to 36 hours per week. Part time hours will be reduced pro-rata. However, there will be a corresponding increase in the hourly rate so that pay will not be affected.
