About the role:
We are currently recruiting for a Mechanical & Electrical Technician to join our Waste Operations team at Crossness STW.
The successful candidate will work in a multi-discipline team, responsible for scheduled, unscheduled, and emergency maintenance on mechanical and electrical equipment, ensuring compliance with company procedures to minimize plant breakdowns.
This role offers an opportunity to make a significant impact by performing operations, testing, routine checks, maintenance, and troubleshooting to meet standards of time, cost, and quality. It includes planned and preventative maintenance of equipment supporting plant operation.
Responsibilities include:
* Investigate plant failures and perform repairs promptly to avoid process interruptions, including diagnosing complex faults during incidents.
* Provide technical advice, referencing current technical knowledge, and support or train technical trainees if needed.
* Work on equipment such as motors, gearboxes, conveyors, centrifuges, pumps, control gear, VSDs, control systems, valves, flow, level, pressure measurement, PLCs, VSDs, chemical handling, and dosing equipment.
* Complete statutory checks as required.
* Work safely, adhering to all health and safety guidelines.
* Be open to training on water treatment processes.
Location: Crossness - Abbey Wood, South East London - SE2 9AQ.
Working pattern: 38 hours, Monday-Friday, 7:30-15:36. Includes standby rota payments, overtime, and potential earnings increase of £8,000-£10,000/year after training.
Tools, PPE, fuel card, and provisional company van provided.
Candidate requirements:
* Time-served apprentice or significant experience in electrical systems in a multi-skilled capacity, with previous electrical apprenticeship.
* ONC/HNC in engineering, NVQ or C&G Level 3 in mechanical engineering, with mechanical NVQ2/3 and 18th Edition qualification.
* Upskilled in mechanical qualifications for inspecting, maintaining, fault diagnosing, testing, installing, modifying, or repairing mechanical and electrical plant equipment safely.
* Knowledge of health and safety issues is essential.
* Valid driving license required.
