Tesco Shift Leader - Nights - Uckfield Superstore. Join Tesco as a Shift Leader to support store operations, customer service and team leadership during night shifts.
Pay and hours
Shift Leader rate of pay starts from £14.76 per hour; increases to £15.97 for stores inside the M25. For all hours worked between midnight and 6am you will receive an additional night premium of £2.35 per hour. Additional payments may also apply depending on location.
New colleagues joining Tesco are offered a minimum of 16 guaranteed hours per week. If you prefer fewer hours, a minimum of 12 hours is available.
Responsibilities
* Work in a fast-paced retail environment, with variety
* Take ownership of running duty shifts, coordinating the team to deliver a clean, well-stocked store that exceeds customer expectations
* Be available to customers, listening and ensuring they leave with what they came for
* Coach colleagues, provide feedback, and look for ways to improve service
* Guide and support colleagues to maintain a safe place to work and shop
* Understand store performance and assist managers in taking actions to improve operations
* Lead by example and set a high standard for the team
* Coordinate store duties, opening/closing, and ensure safety decisions are right for everyone
* Act as the go-to person for day-to-day queries in the absence of a manager
* Maintain a clean, tidy, well-presented store
* Support managers with seasonal, community and charity events
* Foster a positive, inclusive team atmosphere and provide great customer service
* Keep the team informed of communications and updates
* Identify opportunities to improve and simplify store operations
Availability
Availability windows are set in schedule with 3 weeks’ notice of shifts. We support flexibility if exact times differ slightly from advertised.
Requirements
You must be 18 or over to apply for this role.

You will be responsible for
* Coordinating the store team to deliver a smooth shopping experience for customers
* Supporting colleagues in delivering daily priorities and breaks
* Opening/closing the store and completing duty cover, prioritising safety
* Being the point of contact for day-to-day queries when a manager is unavailable
* Maintaining a clean, tidy, and well-presented store
* Supporting managers with events and initiatives
* Contributing to a positive team atmosphere and ensuring excellent customer service
* Keeping the team informed of communications or changes
* Staying informed on store performance and seeking improvements
* Coordinating store improvements and removing obstacles to service
* Following health and safety procedures
* Recognising and celebrating colleagues’ great service
