Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) – SEND Primary School
Location: Southwark
Contract: Full-Time, Term Time Only
Hours: 8:30am – 3:30pm
Pay: £110–£130 per day (dependent on experience)
A supportive and well-resourced SEND primary school in Southwark is seeking an experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join their team on a full-time basis.
This is a rewarding opportunity for a confident and skilled HLTA who is experienced in leading classes in the absence of a teacher and supporting pupils with a range of additional needs, including Autism, ADHD, and SEMH.
Key Responsibilities:
* Covering classes and delivering pre-planned lessons in the absence of the teacher
* Providing 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEND
* Supporting children with Autism, ADHD, and SEMH needs using tailored strategies
* Managing and responding effectively to behaviours that challenge
* Working closely with teaching staff to support pupil progress and wellbeing
* Line managing and supporting Teaching Assistants within the classroom
About You:
* Proven experience working as an HLTA or in a similar role within a SEND setting
* Confident leading a class and delivering lessons independently
* Strong understanding of Autism, ADHD, and SEMH, with effective support strategies
* Experience supporting pupils with behaviours that challenge
* Excellent communication and organisational skills
* Ability to lead, motivate, and support other support staff
