As a Assistant Quantity Surveyor you will be an important part of the Framework Commercial team and will work closely with the Pre-Con, Design and Delivery functions within the wider team, to manage the commercial administration, reporting and performance on a single large project or several smaller schemes.

Assistant Quantity Surveyor

What you will be doing:

An opportunity has arisen for a Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join the team at Thames, a Galliford Try business. As a Assistant Quantity Surveyor you will be an important part of the Framework Commercial team and will work closely with the Pre-Con, Design and Delivery functions within the wider team, to manage the commercial administration, reporting and performance on a single large project or several smaller schemes.

What you will be doing:


* Ensure a safe working environment.
* Produce Subcontract documentation including negotiation of terms and conditions, prices, and programme.
* Management of subcontract works packages including, interim assessments of the amount due and subsequent change management.
* Produce and issue all commercial notices, to both the Client and Subcontractors, as required by the form of contract.
* Manage change in a timely manner in accordance with the form of contract, including the production and submission of Compensation Event Quotations.
* Produce, submit, and agree monthly applications, to the Client, in accordance with the form of contract.
* Liaise with operational and engineering staff to ensure site records are kept to the standard required.
* Produce, and be able to present, detailed monthly reports and Cost Value Reconciliation’s (CVR) as required by the business unit or project.
* Produce and maintain a detailed ‘Cost Plan’, tracking and forecasting expenditure, including detailed schedules of Subcontractor ‘liabilities’ and use of Oracle based cost analyses.
* Interpret and critically evaluate expenditure reports produced by internal cost systems.
* Managing weekly progress and risk reduction meetings with the client and subcontractors.
* Produce reports for client.

About you:

* Good appreciation of standard forms of contract.
* Strong IT skills including Excel, Word & Contractual and Cost Management Systems (CEMAR, Oracle).
* Strong stakeholder management and communication capabilities.
* Solid knowledge of construction processes.
* Professional qualification such as MCIOB or MRICS, ideally Incorporated member, working towards full membership (Desirable).
* Relevant degree and/or experience of working in a relevant Commercial environment.
* Experience of working on large single or multiple smaller schemes.
* CSCS appropriate.
* Experience of using Microsoft Office suite, e.g. Office, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
