To lead clinical pharmacy service provision to acute medicine, including specialities of respiratory, renal, cardiac, and endocrine.
To provide specialist pharmacy advice and training to consultants and junior medical staff, nursing staff, pharmacy staff, other healthcare professionals, patients and carers.
Main duties of the job
Liaison with ward, medical and nursing staff, other healthcare professionals, general managers, drug budget holders, pharmacy staff involved in medicine supply, medicines information, regional and national colleagues.
To provide regular structured feedback to the directorate regarding safe and effective use of medicines and drug expenditure to facilitate service improvement.
To lead on the development of medicine related guidelines and policies and participate in directorate and pharmacy governance and audit activities.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Master's Degree in Pharmacy (4 years) or equivalent plus one year pre-registration training
* Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council
* Clinical Diploma or equivalent
* Qualification as an independent prescriber
* Pharmacy management or supervisory training
* A job related higher degree or diploma
* member of the royal college of Pharmacy
Experience
* Extensive experience as a clinical pharmacist in acute hospital setting.
* Experience of communicating and co-operating within in a multidisciplinary environment.
* Excellent general pharmaceutical & clinical knowledge.
* Recruitment and management of staff
* Experience of service improvement
* Experience with the use of clinical IT systems.
* Financial awareness in the management of budgets or the preparation of business cases
* Knowledge of risk management principles
