The Senior Healthcare Assistant role will support the Multi‑Disciplinary Teams (MDT) on the ward to provide safe, effective care, facilitating patients to reach their optimum level of independence. This includes the undertaking of extended tasks, providing direct patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN).
The Senior Healthcare Assistant will work across a seven‑day week in a long‑day shift pattern, promoting a consistent approach to the care and rehabilitation of patients by all staff.
Main duties of the job
To be part of the ward MDT and assist in the implementation of specific treatment programmes or interventions as delegated by qualified therapy and nursing staff.
* Deliver high‑quality direct clinical care to patients, working in close liaison with qualified staff on the ward.
* Maintain a consistent rehabilitation approach to patients as determined by assessed needs and support other clinical team members to do likewise.
* Advise and supply ward patients with simple mobility aids (e.g., walking sticks, Zimmer frames) within scope of practice and personal competency.
* Assist in the induction of new Healthcare Assistants within the ward.

* Assess and monitor patient conditions and arrange diagnostic tests.

What you’ll need
A minimum of 6 months experience in a community environment within the last 2 years. Depending on the Trust, additional certification and skills may be required. Experience must be within a UK private hospital or NHS trust.

Person Specification – Qualifications Essential
* Care certificate or Vocational level 2.
Person Specification – Desirable
* At least 2 years experience as a care support worker, working in a hospital or any NHS trust in the UK.
