Job Description An established research organisation is seeking a Laboratory Manager to lead the operational delivery of a busy, multi-disciplinary lab environment. Supporting a team of around 80 scientists, this role is central to ensuring the smooth running of day-to-day lab activities, while also contributing to the planning and setup of a new facility in Central London. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who understands the demands of a high-functioning lab and can balance technical oversight with strategic planning. What You’ll Be Responsible For Overseeing lab infrastructure, equipment, and services to ensure optimal performance Managing contractors, suppliers, and service providers across core lab systems Leading procurement, inventory control, and maintenance scheduling Coordinating lab refurbishments and contributing to the design of future facilities Acting as the go-to contact for lab-related issues and emergency response Supporting onboarding and training for new staff and visitors Collaborating with scientists to resolve technical issues and streamline workflows Maintaining accurate records and ensuring compliance with safety protocols What You’ll Bring Experience managing operations in large, complex lab environments (80–120 personnel) Strong understanding of both biological and chemical sample workflows Background as a bench scientist, with progression into lab leadership Familiarity with small molecule research and related lab infrastructure NEBOSH / IOSH Managing Safely qualification (or equivalent) Excellent organisational and communication skills Ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain high safety standards The Planet Group of Companies is an equal opportunity employer.
