About the Role
The Quantity Surveyor/Estimator is crucial role within a dynamic team, working across various functions essential to the successful delivery of development projects. The post holder will be responsible for managing estimating, quantity surveying and pre-work surveying tasks, ensuring that projects are costed accurately from the outset and that financial controls are maintained throughout. This includes preparing detailed cost estimates, conducting feasibility studies and assisting with the procurement process. Additionally, the role involves collaborating closely with design, construction and other stakeholders to ensure that projects are delivered on time, within budget and to the agreed specifications.
A key aspect of the role is the responsibility for submitting and agreeing Final Accounts for projects. The post holder will be required to track and document all project costs, manage any variations and assist in negotiating final settlements with contractors.
About You
The ideal candidate will have:
Experience in preparing cost estimates, tender documents, and budget forecasts for large-scale construction projects within a value for money framework.
Critical thinking skills to evaluate various options and propose effective solutions that minimise costs while maintaining quality standards.
Skilled in negotiating with contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers to secure the best value for the project while maintaining strong relationships.
Ability to accurately prepare cost estimates based on project drawings, specifications, and tender documents.
Be responsible for preparing building and maintenance contracts for all forms of work undertaken or commissioned, evaluate orders preparing acceptance reports and chairing pre-contract meetings.
Prepare work programmes and material schedules and conduct site visits to ensure project specifications are met.
