Responsibilities
* Maintain front of house experience for patients – represent the Trust and ensure the patient experience is second to none, conforming to the Trust Values regarding Excellence, Compassion and Respect.
* Maintain excellent communication with patients, relatives and members of the MDT regarding all aspects of care, demonstrating a variety of communication skills in accordance with the client group.
* Chaperone and assist medical and nursing staff with various clinic sessions.
* Coordinate clinics ensuring patients are prepared for their appointment and seen as quickly as possible.
* Once competencies are completed, carry out simple diagnostic tests such as spirometry and FENO testing with support from qualified nurses.
* Take and record temperature, pulse, respirations, blood pressure and oxygen saturation as instructed by the Registered Nurse; accurately record the results and report significant findings.
* Undertake equipment safety checks and ensure the clinical environment is clean, safe and tidy.
* Respond appropriately to emergency situations.
* Ensure the environment is stocked and equipment is ready to use.
* Contribute to the reduction of healthcare-acquired infection by maintaining a high standard of infection control practice in line with current evidence and legislation.
* Booking EBUS and Bronchus on the system.
* Demonstrate inhaler and peak flow techniques as required.
What you will be doing
This role is a fantastic match for an experienced Health Care Assistant who is keen to work within a busy and dynamic outpatients area. You will be part of a close team of nurses and HCAs in running an efficient outpatients service for patients attending Cardiac, respiratory and sleep appointments. Alongside core activities you will be trained in a variety of diagnostic tests such as spirometry, peak flow and FENO. You will be enthusiastic with a passion for meeting patients’ needs and an eye for detail.
