REVIEW SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS.

Teacher of Gaelic with Gaelic Medium Subject. Permanent Post.

Location: Calderglen High School. Hours: 35 hours per week. Salary: Main Grade Teacher Scale, £41,916 – £52,614 per year.


About The School

Calderglen High School in East Kilbride offers the secondary provision for pupils who speak Gàidhlig in South Lanarkshire. Early Years and Primary provision in South Lanarkshire is offered by Mount Cameron Primary and Nursery.

There is an ambitious five‑year plan with the aim of increasing awareness and use of Gàidhlig across the authority and beyond.

Currently Calderglen has an acting Principal teacher of Gàidhlig, a Gàidhlig teacher, and one of Calderglen’s teachers of Modern Languages has just achieved an A pass in National 5 Gaelic (learners).

South Lanarkshire Council schools have undergone an £800m+ modernisation programme aimed at creating high‑quality provision for all learners.

It is our mission to make positive meaningful changes in the lives of young people by providing an exceptional learning and working environment for pupils and staff and working in partnership with parents, support staff and other professionals.

You will assist in the delivery of the curriculum, contribute to whole‑school initiatives, and carry out the range of duties outlined in Annexe B of “A Teaching Profession for the 21st Century”.

Professional Requirements

A legal requirement for any teacher teaching in a Scottish state school is registration with the GTC Scotland (General Teaching Council (Scotland)).

Applicants born outside the UK or who have lived or worked outside the UK for a continuous period of three months in the past 10 years are required to provide an Overseas Criminal Records Check, translated into English. The check must confirm that the applicant has no history of pending criminal record proceedings.
