The Kirkcaldy Community Development Team is committed to working alongside communities to improve life chances for people of all ages through learning, personal development, and active citizenship programmes. You will be part of the Kirkcaldy Community Development Team focusing on a geographic area. Your time will be spent delivering a range of opportunities and interventions to achieve the national CLD outcomes. You will undertake face to face delivery of CLD activity meeting the needs of young people, adult learners, families and community groups. You will plan, deliver and evaluate programmes and activities using the Fife CLD Quality Framework and apply the principles of the Standards for Community Engagement.

Using a community development approach you will work with communities to ensure they are part of local community planning and have the skills and confidence to make change and deliver community led services. You will manage and support a team of sessional staff and volunteers engaged in the delivery of CLD work in the area.

All work undertaken will aim to increase resilience and improve outcomes around health and wellbeing, education, social isolation and reducing poverty. You will be required to work collaboratively with local partners to understand identified need in Kirkcaldy and work in partnership with others, sharing resources to enhance delivery. You will develop an understanding of the role of the CLD and other plans in shaping and supporting delivery in the area. You will be required to undertake Fife Council training to ensure you act in accordance with policy around Health & Safety, Child and Adult Protection and Data Protection.

You will a key member of the Community Development Team, based in Town House, Kirkcaldy and will work alongside Community Education Workers, Welfare Support Assistants, Local Development Officers and the ABE/ESOL team.

If not already you will be encouraged to become a member of the CLD Standards Council.

The Person

A Degree in Community Learning & Development (or equivalent recognised by the CLD Standards Council for full registration) at SCQF Level 9.

You must be able to work and communicate successfully with Council services, voluntary organisations and community groups and demonstrate recent experience in the use of the National Standards for Community Engagement. You must have experience of engaging with adults, young people and communities. You must have the ability to work with minimum supervision and exercise judgment and initiative. You will be a Team worker and motivator with excellent communication skills and possess a can-do' approach to help progress this agenda. You should be able to provide a regular and effective service.
