General Manager – Grocery Retail (High-Volume)

Full-time | Permanent- 40 Hours Per Week.

The Opportunity
Teamworx Recruitment are delighted to support our client, a highly successful and well-established grocery retailer in Co. Tyrone, with the appointment of a General Manager.
This is a senior leadership role in a high-volume grocery environment, with a store large turnover annually and a team of 50+ colleagues. The ideal candidate will be a commercially-strong retail operator who leads from the front, thrives at pace, and knows how to drive results through people, performance and standards.
Your Core Responsibilities
Commercial Performance
* Full ownership of sales, GP%, wage control, shrink, waste and margin delivery
* Lead monthly P&L reviews and take action where gaps or opportunities arise
* Drive sales growth through pricing, merchandising, promotional execution & store standards
* Ensure weekly Rota planning and labour allocation is controlled and cost-tight
* Work closely with department leads to maintain profitability across all categories
Operational Leadership
* Deliver smooth daily operations through structured team management
* Ensure continuous excellence in availability, store presentation & customer experience
* Maintain reporting, forecasting and performance trackers to keep targets on track
* Lead performance meetings, communication flow and operational planning
* Champion efficiency, simplicity and continuous improvement across the store
People Leadership
* Lead, motivate and develop a management team and 50+ multi-department staff
* Recruitment, onboarding, training, succession and team development plans
* Hold structured 1:1s, coaching sessions and regular performance reviews
* Build an engaged, positive culture with high accountability and high support
Compliance, Audit & H&S
* Ensure strong adherence to HACCP, EHO, GDPR, Risk & H&S requirements
* Maintain audit readiness at all times and continuously improve compliance standards
* Lead stock control, loss prevention and all audit-related procedures
* Ensure accurate documentation, safety protocols and incident reporting
Community, Brand & Store Reputation
* Represent the store locally and drive its presence in the community
* Support marketing, in-store campaigns and weekly promotional themes
* Champion excellence and support entry to national retail awards
Who this role suits
You may currently be a Store Manager, Multi-Site Manager, Area Manager or high-performing Deputy/Assistant Manager ready for the next big step. Most importantly, you must be comfortable operating at scale, making commercial decisions and leading a large team.
