The Role

NHS Lanarkshire Lung Cancer Specialist Nursing Service are seeking applications from highly motivated, enthusiastic and dynamic registered nurses to join their team. Experienced registered nurses who are committed to providing quality evidence based breast cancer care, with a personal commitment to life-long learning aligned to the NES NMAHP framework and ACCEND, are welcomed to apply.

The role of the Advanced Clinical Nurse Specialist is highly specialised to deliver high-quality, patient-centred care with a specialist focus on lung cancer diagnostics and management. The postholder will provide clinical leadership within the multidisciplinary lung cancer service, ensuring timely, equitable and evidence-based care across the lung cancer diagnostic pathway, in line with the Scottish Government Cancer Strategies and the West of Scotland Cancer Managed Clinical Network priorities.

What we'll need you to bring

1. Registered Healthcare practitioner with valid UK Registration (NMC / HCPC)
2. Educated to/working towards/operating at Masters Level
3. Post graduate* expertise within speciality / area of practice that demonstrates the required breadth of knowledge required to lead safety, effectively and efficiently.
4. Comprehensive knowledge of clinical guidelines and standards within the speciality.
5. Advanced Specialist knowledge and experience of relevant conditions, pathology, policies and procedures associated with the speciality/area of practice ensuring that the level of expertise can be utilised to deliver leadership within speciality.
6. Evidence of application of advanced practice skills in speciality and applying clinical judgement.
7. Evidence of further developed knowledge and experience in management and/or leadership.
8. Further education/evidence of Continuous Professional Development in area of speciality including study days/courses/post graduate qualification
9. The post holder will possess excellent team-working/leadership skills and have the ability to motivate and influence others and work using own initiative
10. Excellent listening, communication and interpersonal skills and effective time management skills
11. Working knowledge of basic information technology
12. This may include Independent and supplementary prescribing where relevant to the role, legal framework for the practitioner and defined service need.

Please note for all vacancies where a driving licence is required this must be a full UK/EU/EEA licence.

It would be great if you also have

13. Principles of Lung Cancer or Principles of Cancer Care module at Level 11.
14. Advanced Communication Skills/Training
15. Commitment to lifelong learning and personal development plan.
16. Working knowledge of basic information technology
17. Be able to demonstrate knowledge of national, regional and local cancer strategies / priorities
18. The post holder will possess excellent team-working/leadership skills and have the ability to motivate and influence others and work using own initiative
19. Excellent listening, communication and interpersonal skills and effective time management skills

Contract type

20. Fixed Term or Secondment for a duration of 12 months
21. Full time
22. 37 hours

Please note this is a fixed term post for the duration of 12 months from contract commencing. Where a post only has temporary funding and an existing member of NHS Lanarkshire staff wishes to apply, this will be treated as a secondment. The employee MUST already have written agreement from their line manager to be released on a secondment before applying for the post.

Location and Working Pattern

This role will be based in Lung Cancer Nursing within University Hospital Monklands

The working pattern for this role includes Core Hours To Meet Needs Of Service & Clinics
