Purpose of the role:
To underwrite across multi-line package & combined business within the UK Commercial Micro and SME Package line of business including shops & salons, leisure, manufacturing & wholesale, property owners, offices and surgeries. To develop and grow key broker partner relationships and account management of large portfolios of facility business. The role will involve handling more complex referrals from digital platforms and from delegated facilities. To actively engage in product development and enhancement of the SME proposition. This role will report into the Head of Package and CUO for UK SME and will be an important contributor towards AIG’s ambition to be a leading insurer in this segment.
Accountabilities for the role:
* Monitor portfolio performance of facilities on a quarterly basis, assessing both performance against budget, underwriting results and loss trends.
* Work with the Operations team to generate portfolio reports in agreed form highlighting key trends and recommend actions to develop/ remedy underwriting results.
* Conduct quarterly business reviews with key broker partners and manage external business relationships to achieve desired performance metrics.
* Handle the more complex referrals from the team in a timely and efficient manner.
* Provide training and support to junior underwriters and the service centre team.
* Support the development of new products and/or product enhancements
* Work with broker partners to actively seek ways to grow and expand existing facilities
* Always adhere to underwriting and pricing authorities, standards and business rules
* Be a key contributor to the SME Package business top line and profitability metrics.
* Comply with key regulatory, conduct and risk management requirements and responsibilities.
Experience & Qualifications Required:
* Good communication skills, both written and oral are required
* Good numerical skills and ability to analyse data
* Proven underwriting experience in a commercial SME environment.
* Technical expertise in Property & Casualty lines of business essential
* Ability to work across multiple work streams at any one time and prioritise accordingly
* Able to demonstrate experience in portfolio or facility management or managing a DUA
* Experience of working with digital trading platforms.
* Ability to deliver results whilst working as part of a team.
