Job Title: Commissioning Engineer Location: Suffolk Rate/Salary: £800 per day (Outside IR35) Start Date: ASAP Contract Type: Contract (6 months) As a commissioning engineer, you would specialize in the installation and startup of energy automation systems for the onshore converter station for an offshore wind project. The role involves the high-voltage direct current (HVDC) converter stations and associated power and control systems. Key Responsibilities: Developing and managing the commissioning plans, schedules, and test procedures for the converter station and related electrical systems. Conducting rigorous tests and inspections on the 400kV and HVDC systems, including primary plant equipment, protection, and control systems, to verify they meet all design specifications and safety standards. Diagnosing and resolving any equipment malfunctions or system issues that arise during the commissioning phase. Compiling and maintaining detailed records, test documentation, and reports to prove that all mandatory assessments and regulatory requirements have been met. Overseeing the work of commissioning teams and subcontractors to ensure safe and efficient execution. Acting as a technical interface and collaborating with project managers, contractors, and client representatives. Providing training and support to the operational and maintenance teams on the newly commissioned systems. Requirements: A degree in a relevant engineering discipline, such as electrical or mechanical engineering. A proven track record in the commissioning and operation of HVDC converter stations is essential. Expertise in high-voltage equipment, protection and control systems, and specific technologies like IGBT switching systems.
