Overview
Infrastructure Manager - Cloud Engineer - Azure will be a subject matter expert in Azure and must have in depth technical knowledge of traditional physical, virtualised, hybrid and converged hosting models. Cloud Engineers are responsible for delivering Strategic Infrastructure Initiatives and maintaining service availability with accountability for annual cloud budgets exceeding £10 million. The role is part of the RM Cloud Centre of Excellence, driving value from cloud technologies and collaborating with multiple technology functions to define and deliver new solutions, services and ways of working.

Responsibilities
* Act as the technical engineering authority for multiple cloud platforms (Azure, GCP & AWS), ensuring cloud resources are used in line with the Cloud Adoption Framework of the respective provider.
* Drive the migration of >3k workloads from on-premise data centres to Software Defined Data Centres (SDDC) leveraging native and hybrid cloud architectures.
* Ensure that Infrastructure as Code (IaC) scripts are managed in a central Git repository and maintained for core environmental configuration changes.
* Drive the automation agenda to introduce self-service for platform and product engineering to enable Product-based DevSecOps ways of working.
* Define, publish, deploy and maintain Cloud blueprints, guidelines, standards, patterns and policy to drive consistency across all cloud technologies.
* Be an active member of the Cloud Centre of Excellence, collaborating with other CCoE members from across Technology functions.
* Work with the wider CCoE team to define a detailed Cloud Roadmap, publish and promote prioritisation, resource and budget alignment.
* Participate in cross-functional teams to embed a FinOps culture, allowing cost controls to be applied to cloud resources.
* Identify and report risks and issues related to the infrastructure tower, including severity and likelihood, and contribute to incident management and service restoration.
* Develop recommendations and mitigation activities that consider risks and costs of each initiative.
* Support accreditation, audit and compliance activities.
* Develop and maintain relationships as an active member of the Technology & Data Design Authority, leading workshops to drive cloud value and understand future roadmaps.
* Manage professional development and identify opportunities to remain a leading expert in your domain.
* Identify key stakeholders and use them to challenge and support decision processes.
* Contribute to Infrastructure strategy, governance, roadmaps and reporting to technology executives.
* Understand and manage Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) for technologies within the infrastructure tower and ensure services are efficient.
* Ensure data accuracy in the Configuration Management Database (CMDB) for your infrastructure tower.
* Take lead on designing, publishing and maintaining Terraform code via Azure DevOps pipelines to support core infrastructure deployments.
