As part of this growth, we are seeking a talented HPC Compute Engineer to join their high-performing team and support the design, implementation, and optimisation of cutting-edge high-performance computing environments. Role Overview As an HPC Compute Engineer, you will be instrumental in: Designing, deploying, and maintaining HPC clusters and supporting infrastructure. Ensuring optimal performance and reliability of compute resources across customer environments. Supporting high-throughput compute workloads across Linux-based systems. Collaborating with research teams, developers, and systems architects to drive innovation. Troubleshooting complex systems issues across hardware, OS, and networking layers. Automating tasks and improving systems through scripting and infrastructure-as-code tools. ✅ Key Requirements We’re looking for individuals with the following skills and experience: Proven experience in managing HPC environments (on-prem, cloud, or hybrid). Deep understanding of Linux-based systems (CentOS, RHEL, Ubuntu, etc.). Experience with workload managers/schedulers (e.g. Slurm, PBS, LSF). Familiarity with parallel file systems (e.g. Lustre, GPFS) and storage management. Scripting skills in Bash, Python or similar for automation and orchestration. Knowledge of performance tuning, monitoring tools and job profiling. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work in fast-paced technical environments. Desirable: Exposure to cloud-based HPC solutions (AWS, Azure, or GCP). Experience with containerisation (Docker, Singularity) in HPC environments.
