We are partnering with a leading Housing Association to recruit a proactive and skilled Building Safety Officer. This role is vital in ensuring high-risk residential buildings remain safe, compliant, and well-managed, with resident safety at the heart of every decision.
The Role
Reporting to the Building Safety Manager, you will work collaboratively across teams to deliver consistent building safety management for a portfolio of high-risk properties. You will:
Ensure compliance with all building safety regulations, legislation, and landlord obligations
Maintain accurate and up-to-date building safety cases and risk mitigation plans
Conduct regular inspections of high-risk buildings, identifying and addressing potential safety risks
Engage with residents through proactive events, fostering trust and clear communication about safety responsibilities
Support the golden thread of information and maintain comprehensive records, including personal emergency evacuation plans (PEEPS)
Collaborate with internal teams and external contractors to ensure the safe delivery of maintenance, remediation, and compliance activities
Stay up to date with changes in legislation, regulatory requirements, and best practices in building safety
What We’re Looking For?
Strong knowledge of building safety, fire safety, building regulations, and health and safety legislation
Understanding of residential construction methods and active/passive fire protection measures
Experience managing or coordinating building safety in high-risk residential environments
Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills
Ability to assess risks, prioritize actions, and escalate issues when necessary
Desirable: CIOB Level 6, NEBOSH Fire Certificate, IOSH Managing Safely, understanding of data security related to safety compliance
