Overview
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Engineering Maintenance Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in mechanical and/or electrical maintenance, with the ability to troubleshoot and repair various systems. This role requires a proactive individual who can work independently and as part of a team, ensuring that all equipment operates efficiently and safely.
Job Purpose
To ensure the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of all workshop machinery and vehicles, including Voortman CNC steel processing machines, forklift trucks, and other mechanical equipment. The role involves planned preventative maintenance, reactive repairs, and continuous improvement of engineering assets.
Key Responsibilities
* Perform routine and reactive maintenance on Voortman steel processing machines, including mechanical, electrical, and control systems.
* Maintain and repair forklift trucks, company vehicles, and other mobile equipment.
* Conduct preventative maintenance schedules and maintain accurate service records.
* Diagnose faults and carry out repairs in a timely and cost-effective manner.
* Liaise with equipment manufacturers and suppliers for parts, service support, and upgrades.
* Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, including lock-out/tag-out procedures.
* Maintain workshop tools and equipment in good working order.
* Support installation and commissioning of new machinery or upgrades.
* Respond to breakdowns and emergencies, including out-of-hours support if required.
* Assist in developing maintenance procedures and continuous improvement initiatives.
Person Specification:
Essential
* Proven experience in mechanical and electrical maintenance within an industrial or manufacturing environment.
* Familiarity with Voortman machinery or similar CNC steel processing equipment is preferable.
* Experience maintaining forklift trucks and light commercial vehicles.
* Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
* Ability to read technical drawings and manuals.
* Good understanding of health and safety and safe working practices.
* Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Full UK driving licence.
Desirable
* Recognised engineering qualification (e.g. NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, or equivalent).
* Recognised electrical qualification (e.g. NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds or equivalent)
* Forklift truck maintenance certification.
* Welding and fabrication skills.
