Anderson Knight is recruiting an Insurance & Risk Manager on behalf of our client, offering an excellent opportunity for an experienced insurance professional to take ownership of a complex, multi-entity insurance programme within the energy sector.
Reporting into senior leadership, this role will act as the organisation’s subject matter expert across both insurance and risk. You will lead the strategic and operational management of the insurance programme, ensuring robust, cost-effective and compliant coverage while also providing valuable insight to support wider risk management initiatives.
You will work closely with brokers, insurers and internal stakeholders across HSE, Finance, Legal & Compliance, while also leading a small team responsible for claims management.
Key Responsibilities
Insurance Programme & Risk Management
* Lead the full insurance renewal cycle across a wide range of classes including Professional Indemnity, Public & Products Liability, Directors & Officers, Employers’ Liability, Environmental Impairment Liability, Contractors All Risk, Property, Motor and other specialist covers.
* Evaluate and continuously enhance the organisation’s insurance strategy to reflect business growth, acquisitions, emerging risks and regulatory change.
* Partner with brokers, insurers and group contacts to ensure efficient placement and renewal of policies.
* Support the development and embedding of risk management practices across the business.
* Manage and oversee the annual insurance budget in collaboration with Finance.
Claims Management
* Oversee the end-to-end claims process across multiple business entities.
* Lead and support the team responsible for claims handling, ensuring timely reporting, investigation and resolution.
* Build strong relationships with insurers and third-party claims handlers to drive effective outcomes.
* Analyse claims trends and provide actionable insights to HSE and operational teams to support risk reduction initiatives.
Stakeholder Engagement
* Act as the primary point of contact for all insurance and risk-related matters internally.
* Develop and maintain strong relationships with brokers, insurers and key internal stakeholders.
* Provide guidance and training to the business on insurance processes, risk transfer and best practice.
Governance & Reporting
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date insurance records, including policies, registers and claims data.
* Produce regular reports for senior leadership on insurance performance, claims activity and risk exposure.
* Ensure compliance with internal governance frameworks, regulatory requirements and group policies.
Skills & Experience
Essential
* Minimum 5 years’ experience within insurance, ideally within a corporate, industrial or engineering environment.
* Strong technical knowledge across key insurance classes including Liability, Professional Indemnity, Directors & Officers, Environmental Impairment and Contractors All Risk.
* Proven experience managing insurance renewals, claims and broker relationships.
* Experience leading or mentoring a team.
* Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
* Strong analytical, organisational and problem-solving abilities.
Desirable
* ACII qualification or working towards.
* Experience within a large, multi-site organisation.
* Exposure to risk management and/or HSE frameworks.
