An exciting opportunity has arisen to recruit staff nurses for ITU/HDU/POCCU.
We are very proud of our award-winning Critical Care Unit, which has been shortlisted four years in a row for a Nursing Times Award and has work presented at BACCN conferences.

We require staff with a genuine interest in caring for critically ill patients as part of a multidisciplinary team, along with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
We provide a comprehensive learning package supported by nationally recognized Critical Care competencies.
Previous Critical Care Experience is not essential but desirable.

An Enhanced DBS check with barred lists for both Adults & Children is required.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Providing and receiving complex, sensitive, and confidential information related to patient care.
2. Communicating compassionately and empathetically, using persuasion and reassurance.
3. Recognizing barriers to communication and adapting communication styles accordingly.
4. Training and effectively communicating with students and the wider MDT team.
5. Maintaining clinical skills training within scope of practice.
6. Ensuring safe custody, checking, witnessing, and administration of drugs in compliance with statutory and trust requirements.
7. Responding to complaints/concerns and escalating as needed in the absence of the Sister/Charge Nurse.
8. Managing and reporting clinical incidents and near misses promptly.
9. Participating in multidisciplinary team decision-making and advocating for patients.
10. Adhering to organizational policies, procedures, and guidelines.
11. Conducting risk assessments and implementing risk reduction measures, reporting deficiencies.
12. Maintaining patient privacy, dignity, and safety at all times.
13. Participating in resource and equipment management, including stock control and equipment care.
14. Handling patient valuables securely.
15. Signing off agency timesheets and liaising with the Roster Coordinator for scheduling.
Teaching & Training Responsibilities
To deputize for the Sister/Charge Nurse, manage own and team’s time effectively, act as assessor/supervisor for junior staff and students, and support appraisal processes.
Participate in redeployment and flexible staffing as needed.
Research & Audit
Contribute to research and audit data collection, evaluate research for clinical application, identify training needs, and develop a reflective practice portfolio.
Support team wellbeing and foster a culture of learning and innovation.
