About HomeCareDirect

* Ongoing support from a dedicated Regional Care Lead and Nurse
* 24/7 on-call support
* Career development opportunities and personal development plan
* Employee benefits including: a Blue Light discount card, Long Service Awards, PA of the Quarter Awards and wellbeing options including 24/7 confidential support provided by Spectrum Life

The role of this Personal Care Assistant

Our personal care assistants join our client’s support team, providing reliable, essential care and support in their home. You will be employed by HomeCareDirect on behalf of the client and your focus will be to support them only. This role will be to cover 12hrs a week on a Monday. You should be flexible to cover additional shifts if needed.

About the Client and Duties

Our client is a young man with special needs, autism and limited mobility. He lives at home with his family in the Driffield area and you will be required to support him at home in the rural setting where he lives.

He enjoys cooking, baking, crafts, drawing, board games, pool, riding out on his scooter, photography, animals, wildlife, shopping and collecting Marvel and DC memorabilia.

He does require some personal care but there is no moving and handling involved.

Our client requires support with meal making, loading and unloading his scooter into the van and you will help with cleaning and tidying all of our client's living spaces and bed changes and make sure his areas are sanitised as he has brittle asthma.

When out and about, you will make sure he is safe and well supported constantly, as autism can make him feel vulnerable. You will make his life fun and interesting by creating things to do within his ability range.

Requirements

Training and Support:

We provide comprehensive, paid training to CQC standards covering:

* Full induction
* Safeguarding Adults
* Health & Safety / First Aid / Food Hygiene
* Moving & Handling
* Personal Care
* Autism

All training must be completed before the start date, with training hours paid at minimum wage

Requirements:

* This post is exempt under The Equality Act 2010 Schedule 9 Part 1 - there is a genuine occupational requirement to recruit female support workers only
* Experience of autism and learning disabilities
* You should have the means to easily commute to the rural village of Driffield so ideally be a driver with access to your own vehicle
* You should be flexible to cover additional shifts if needed and be able to change your working hours if necessary for the client
* Commitment to long-term, person-centred care
* You must be reliable, compassionate and committed to respecting confidentiality

Benefits

Our organisation is committed to safe and fair recruitment, safeguarding and protecting those we care for and serve. We make sure all our staff are vetted, selected, trained and supervised fairly and to a high standard so that they can provide safe, effective, and compassionate care.
