As part of our continued growth, we are offering an exciting opportunity for a Graduate Quantity Surveyor to join our Building Division in Livingston.
This role is ideal for a recent graduate or soon to be graduate who is looking to start their career in quantity surveying within a leading construction business. Youll gain hands on experience across live building projects, working alongside experienced commercial professionals who will support your development and help you build a strong foundation for a successful long term career.
What Youll Be Doing
With structured training and ongoing support, you will:
Assist with day to day quantity surveying and commercial activities on projects
Support the preparation of cost plans, budgets and financial forecasts
Assist with procurement activities, including tender preparation and evaluations
Help monitor project costs, variations and financial performance
Work closely with project teams, subcontractors and clients to support cost control
Support the preparation of reports and commercial documentation
Learn and apply relevant construction regulations, standards and best practice
Undertake site visits to support your technical and practical development
Work alongside senior quantity surveyors and project managers to achieve successful project outcomes
Essential Requirements
Were keen to hear from enthusiastic candidates who can demonstrate:
A degree (or expected degree) in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or a related construction related discipline
A genuine interest in building a career as a Quantity Surveyor
Strong numerical, analytical and problem solving skills
Good IT skills, particularly Microsoft Excel and Word
Clear communication skills and confidence working with different stakeholders
A proactive, organised and eager to learn approach
The ability to work effectively as part of a team
Desirable Criteria
The following would be beneficial but not essential:
Previous industry experience through a placement year, internship or work experience
An understanding of construction processes and procurement routes
Experience using commercial or estimating software
A desire to work towards RICS or a similar professional qualification
An interest in cost optimisation, sustainability or modern construction practices
