Motivating, supporting and managing your team of nurses as a Charge Nurse. You’ll listen to your team and service users, ensuring the day-to-day running of the department is smooth and positive. This role at Beck House, Darlington, part of Elysium’s Learning Disabilities & Autism care, offers an opportunity to lead a multidisciplinary team and develop specialist skills while making a real difference.
Whether you’re an existing Charge Nurse (RMN or RNLD) or a senior Nurse seeking the next step, you will join a nursing team focused on delivering high-quality care and supporting a service user group with Learning Disability & Autism.

Responsibilities
* Lead and coordinate the quality and management of nursing care and the delivery of clinical services.
* Oversee day-to-day operations of the unit to ensure it performs well.
* Delegate nursing tasks to nurses in the unit and coordinate with other teams.
* Monitor service users’ conditions and respond to changes.
* Supervise team members and provide guidance and support.
* Make critical decisions regarding service user assignments, staff scheduling, and resource allocation.
* Act as liaison between nursing staff and other healthcare professionals, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
Qualifications
* A relevant nursing qualification
* NMC registration (RMN or RNLD)
* A positive attitude with natural caring and compassion
* A commitment to high-quality care and to values-based and evidence-based practice
* Relevant experience in a similar environment
* Proven leadership skills
Location
Beck House, Hammond Drive, Lakeside, Darlington, County Durham, DL1 5TH. Beck House is a registered care service with nursing that forms part of Elysium’s Learning Disabilities & Autism complex care service, providing six bespoke single-person apartments.
The service is due to open in January 2026.
