Job Description:
We are looking for a committed Pupil Support Assistant who is passionate about improving life chances for all, enabling children and young people to achieve their full potential. As a Pupil Support Assistant, you will work under the supervision of a class teacher or senior staff to support children requiring additional assistance.
You will be required to:
1. Support pupils/children individually, in class, or in small groups in areas of learning and personal development.
2. Contribute to updating planning and review processes for individual pupils/children.
3. Supervise pupil/child self-administration of medication, providing personal care to enable them to function fully, including toileting, administering medication as per training, and encouraging independence.
4. Implement support programs designed by visiting specialists, such as speech and language therapy, physiotherapy, and occupational therapy.
5. Support pupil/child mobility during emergencies or for low-level needs, such as toileting or injury support.

The Person:
* Possess good interpersonal skills to work effectively as part of a team, ensuring positive outcomes for children and young people.
* Experience in supporting young people with additional support needs.
* Register with SSSC within 3 months of employment and maintain registration.
* Possess at least 2 National 4s, Standard Grades General, O Grades, or equivalent (SCQF Level 4 or above).
* For Early Learning Centres/Primary and Special Schools: an NC in Early Education and Childcare at SCQF Level 6, SVQ Social Services (Children and Young People) at SCQF Level 6, or a similar qualification, or be willing to achieve this within the first registration period.
Before appointment, you must obtain PVG scheme membership through Disclosure Scotland and join the relevant scheme. You will have three months to apply for registration, with a goal to be registered within six months of starting.
