The Role
Deal Advisory Tax provides market-leading services to both Financial and Corporate investors. We have teams focused on clients in three performance groups: Financial Services, Corporates, and National Markets. We are a connected team, working and learning together.
* Financial Services: We work with private equity, infrastructure, and real estate funds, as well as institutional investors like sovereign wealth funds and pension funds. Our clients have UK, European, and Global investment strategies.
* Corporates: We support FTSE 100 and 250 companies with strategic acquisitions, carve outs, de-mergers, disposals, and joint ventures in the UK and cross-border.
* National Markets: We work with mid-market UK corporates and PE funds to invest across key sectors and grow local economies.
The Deal Advisory Tax team offers services across the deal spectrum, including buy-side due diligence, structuring, sell-side vendor assistance, refinancing, and listings. Deal sizes range from £10m to over £10bn, involving various clients and deals. We help clients understand tax issues and structure transactions to maximize value throughout the investment cycle, often involving advice across multiple countries and taxes.
Key Responsibilities
* Collaborate with Partners and Directors on complex transactions to deliver high-quality advice.
* Support new business opportunities, proposals, and pitches.
* Develop and maintain client relationships within Deal Advisory.
* Act as a key contact for clients, legal advisers, and KPMG teams to ensure effective delivery.
* Coach and develop colleagues, collaborate with peers, and pursue continuous learning.
* Prepare and oversee detailed UK and international tax advice.
* Analyze tax documents/data, identify key issues, and communicate their commercial impact.
* Work with UK and overseas tax specialists, critically analyzing their input.
* Stay updated on UK and OECD tax developments.
* Understand financial models from a tax perspective.
* Contribute to Deal Advisory Tax thought leadership.
The Person
* Qualified CTA, ACA/CA, or equivalent.
* Ambitious, enthusiastic, and interested in transactions.
* Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
* Solid UK corporate tax knowledge and awareness of other tax and accounting matters.
* Analytical, curious, and commercially-minded.
* Excellent project management skills, team-oriented, proactive.
* Ability to build and maintain client and stakeholder relationships.
* Leadership and coaching skills.
* Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills.
