The University of Nottingham is seeking a motivated, experienced and highly skilled Fire Safety Advisor.
Responsibilities
* Be the university’s Competent Person under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005.
* Oversee fire safety for the university and deliver fire safety advice to the business units across the university portfolio.
* Line manage and supervise the university fire safety officer.
* Carry out, review and manage fire risk assessments of the university portfolio, which includes areas such as labs, farms, medical facilities, storage/archives, halls of residence and lecture theatres.

The successful applicant will help to oversee the fire safety of all the University of Nottingham's UK campuses and operations, which covers five UK campuses based around Nottingham and approximately 550 buildings, including a working farm.
You will be working for the Director of Health and Safety within the central Health and Safety Department to deliver fire safety advice to the business units, to allow them to meet their regulatory requirements and to help drive the continued improvement of safety throughout the university. Due to the wide range of activities and cutting‑edge research that the university carries out, this is a varied and dynamic role.
The successful applicant will be based on University Park in the Health and Safety Department but will be expected to travel to all of the UK campuses. The University runs public transport between campuses for staff, so a driver’s license is not a requirement for this role. The University has a hybrid working policy which will allow the successful applicant to work at home with agreement of their line manager and the departments requirements.
This is a full time (36.25 hours weekly), permanent position.
Informal enquiries may be addressed to the Fire Safety Advisor, Tim McGill, timothy.mcgill@nottingham.ac.uk. Please note that applications sent directly to this email address will not be accepted.
