Senior Producer

We’re looking for an ambitious, experienced, tech-loving Senior Producer with a track record of delivering high-quality art/tech projects to lead our flagship programme, ART // TECH // PLAY.

You’ll bridge curation with hands-on project management, working closely with artists and partners to develop, produce and circulate new art/tech work. This is a brand new role that will enable us to respond to artists/sector needs and build an effective ecosystem.


Key Information

● £35,000 per annum pro rata (£28,000 for 30 hours per week / 0.8 FTE) + 3% pension contribution via NEST. The post is initially fixed term from September 2026 to the end March 2028, with the expectation to extend subject to confirmation of NPO funding.
● 25 days holiday per annum pro rata (20 days for 0.8 FTE) + public holidays + closure between Christmas and New Year.
● Working times: Typically Monday to Thursday between 9am and 6pm, with occasional evenings and weekends. We have an annualised hours scheme supporting work/life balance, allowing working patterns to be flexed, e.g to support side-hustles or provide more time off in school holidays in exchange for increased hours in term time.
● Location: Primarily based at Cambridge Junction or home-based, with regular travel across East Anglia (Norwich, Cambridge, Ipswich).
● Reporting to: Executive Director.

About the Role

The Senior Producer will be the creative catalyst behind our ART // TECH // PLAY (ATP) programme and Associate Artists. This role bridges curation with hands-on project management, ensuring our activities support effective knowledge transfer and collaborations between artists, technologists, and academics result in innovative, public-facing experiences.

ATP is a partnership led by Collusion, currently with six partners – DanceEast, Cambridge Junction, Norwich Theatre, Norwich University of the Arts, Anglia Ruskin University, and University of Cambridge. ATP engages with around 400 artists per year, aiming to develop new creative practice, ideas and projects, through the construction of an effective pipeline for the creation and distribution of new artworks that reach and engage the public in innovative ways.


Primary Responsibilities


1. Programme curation & management

● Lead the design, curation, and implementation of the ART // TECH // PLAY programme, including residencies, workshops, network events, and membership programme.
● Work with the wider team to translate the strategic recommendations of the Digital Arts Superorganism report into actionable project plans.
● Act as the primary point of contact for Associate Artists, managing R&D, residencies and commissions from inception to public delivery.
● Identify emerging trends in technology to keep programming cutting-edge.
● Manage the ATP annual budget, maintaining good financial management practices.
● Monitoring and evaluating the ATP programme, producing an annual report plus event specific reports.


2. Technical leadership

● Utilise proven technical knowledge and skills to support artist R&D and project delivery.
● Collaborate with the Lead Creative Technologist to integrate new technologies into the organisation’s wider creative pipeline.
● Provide creative and ethical input into Collusion’s new AI programme.


3. Development & research

● Build relationships with producers at other ‘intermediary’ organisations across the UK to support information sharing and collaboration.
● Build knowledge and understanding of touring and distribution opportunities for work in this space, to support better circulation of new and existing work.
● Work with the Director to build and maintain partnerships with HEIs (Anglia Ruskin, Norwich University of the Arts) and cultural venues (Cambridge Junction, DanceEast, Norwich Theatre).

4. Fundraising & Advocacy

● Support our direct and indirect (artist led) fundraising including, as required, writing and submitting smaller-scale funding bids and project proposals, and providing feedback on artists and partners’ draft bids.
● Support the achievement of Collusion’s income targets by promoting our artists services and support the delivery of this work.
● Contribute to funders’ reporting requirements including NPO reporting.
● Support delivery of our communications plan and targets.
● Represent Collusion at industry events to raise the organisation’s profile.


Person specification


Essential Skills & Experience

● Creative producing: Track record of delivering high-quality arts/tech projects with artists.
● Distribution: Experience of touring and distributing work across the UK. Knowledge of emerging circulation networks for art/tech work.
● Curation: Experience in curating artist development programmes or residencies involving a range of stakeholders.
● Technical proficiency: Proven technical skills and experience relevant to supporting the delivery of arts projects. This could be specific or broad and take a variety of forms, such as coding, knowledge of key software like Blender or Resolume, physical computing with platforms like Arduino, Raspberry Pi, or BBC micro:bit, sound / audio technologies, projection, sensors and lighting based-technologies, or use of key hardware such as VR headsets. We are open to you defining your strength in this area.
● Project management: Confident ability to manage multiple projects, budgets, and stakeholders simultaneously. Must be able to multitask. An understanding of the needs and demands of working in a small team. Highly organised and efficient with a strong eye for detail. Ability to make sound judgements based on agreed policies and procedures.
Experience of working in a changing business environment.
● Communications: Strong communication skills, written and verbal.


Desirable

● Sector Knowledge: Understanding of the East Anglian cultural landscape and its academic networks. Experience of working with key non-cultural partners such as higher education and local government
● Fundraising and income generation: Experience in successful bid writing for the arts (ACE, trusts and foundations, or similar) and / or alternative non-bid led income such as sponsorship and philanthropy. Experience of developing alternative income streams for the arts, e.g sales, IP, micro transactions.
● AI Context: Experience or knowledge regarding the curatorial and ethical implications of AI in creative practice.
● Skills & knowledge: A degree or equivalent and/or a professional qualification in a related subject.
