Ardene House Veterinary Practice Ltd, Kingswells Hospital, Kingswells, Scotland
Salary up to £65,000 DOE, Welcome Bonus up to £5,000 plus Relocation Allowance up to £8,000!
Are you seeking a new challenge? Ardene House Veterinary Practice are proud to offer a rare opportunity for a motivated Equine Veterinary Surgeon to join our supportive and close-knit team in Kingswells, Aberdeen. This is a permanent role that offers variety, clinical freedom, and the chance to work in one of the best-equipped equine practices in the northeast of Scotland.
We are particularly interested in experienced applicants who are confident with lameness work ups and orthopaedic cases. A certificate or further qualification in this area would be an advantage but is not essential. Equally, we are also interested to hear from applicants with other interests, or confident recent graduates – we may be in a position to take on an additional vet, for the right person.
A role tailored to your clinical interests
We understand that life outside of work is just as important, and we’re happy to tailor the rota to suit your lifestyle and preferences. Full and part time positions can be considered, with full time involving 40 hours per week, with flexible working patterns to help you achieve a great work-life balance. Our current out-of-hours rota is 1:8, supported by a dedicated on-call vet, with a half day off following a weeknight on-call and a Friday off after a weekend on-call. Whether you’re looking to fix your hours or would prefer some flexibility, we’re keen to find the right solution for you.
You’ll enjoy a varied and rewarding caseload, from much-loved family ponies to elite competition horses. There is ample opportunity to focus on your clinical passions with the full support of the team and access to excellent diagnostic tools. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include ambulatory and hospital-based routine and emergency care, with an ability to focus on your interests. We also receive referrals from across the region, including the Scottish islands, giving you the chance to work on more complex and interesting cases.
Why Ardene House?
Our modern, purpose-built equine unit at Ardene House is equipped to support best clinical practice, with seven stables, dedicated trot-up areas, a synthetic surface outdoor school, treatment room, stocks, knockdown box, and a fully equipped surgical theatre. We also offer a wide range of advanced diagnostic and therapeutic equipment, including portable DR radiography, ultrasound scanners, surgical and rehab lasers, and video arthroscopy and endoscopy. We also encourage certificates, with one of our equine vets nearing completion of a CertAVP in Equine Emergency and Critical Care. Regular CPD activities are scheduled, such as journal clubs and case discussions.
You’ll be joining a truly collaborative and friendly team of international equine vets, an equine RVN, nursing assistants, and office staff who share a passion for delivering high-quality care in a supportive, inclusive environment. With open communication, clinical discussions, and a healthy dose of humour at the heart of our culture, you’ll be supported by our Advanced Practitioner in Equine Internal Medicine, as well as regular visiting specialists in orthopaedics and dentistry.
