As a Technical Manager in Shipbuilding, your role involves overseeing the technical aspects of ship design, construction, and delivery while ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations. Here’s a general job description:
Key Responsibilities:
1. Project Oversight:
* Manage the technical aspects of shipbuilding projects from design to delivery.
* Ensure projects meet quality, safety, and regulatory requirements.

2. Design & Engineering Coordination:
* Work with naval architects, engineers, and classification societies to finalize vessel designs.
* Review and approve technical drawings, specifications, and modifications.
3. Quality & Compliance:
* Ensure compliance with IMO, SOLAS, MARPOL, and classification society rules.
* Conduct inspections and audits to maintain quality control.
4. Procurement & Material Selection:
* Approve technical specifications for materials, equipment, and machinery.
* Coordinate with suppliers and vendors for procurement.
5. Team Management & Coordination:
* Lead technical teams, including engineers, inspectors, and shipyard personnel.
* Collaborate with production managers to resolve technical challenges.
6. Risk Management & Problem‑Solving:
* Address technical issues that arise during construction and propose solutions.
* Ensure proper risk assessment and mitigation strategies are in place.
7. Budget & Cost Control:
* Support cost estimation and budgeting for technical aspects of shipbuilding.
* Optimize resources to improve efficiency and cost‑effectiveness.
Skills & Qualifications:
* Experience in ship design, construction, or shipyard operations managing.
* Strong knowledge of classification society and regulatory requirements.
* Leadership and problem‑solving skills to manage technical teams.
