Due to an internal promotion, an exciting opportunity has arisen within our Construction Department for a new or experienced highly motivated Lecturer. Applicants are invited from a Building Services Engineering (BSE) Electrical background ideally able to deliver a selection of core subjects such as:
BSE Electrical Industrial/Commercial/Domestic Installation Techniques
BSE Electrical Installation Testing & Inspection
BSE Construction Design Principles
BSE Construction Maintenance Principles
Health & Safety in Construction
A broad-based knowledge of the wider Construction sector would also be advantageous.
The successful applicant will teach across a range of full time and part time programmes to students typically studying from Level 1 to Level 3 including Construction T-Levels (core and occupational specialisms) based on prior industrial/teaching experience. Applicants are therefore invited who hold a relevant BSE Electrical Level 3 qualification or equivalent and/or be able to demonstrate significant industrial experience in the Electrical/general BSE fields.
The key responsibilities of the role include delivering theoretical and practical knowledge developing and implementing improvements to support learning, plus managing and conducting assessments in line with awarding organisation guidelines. Ensuring student progress is tracked and maintained on College IT systems, and that retention and achievement levels are maintained and improved.
Previous experience of working in a training environment or of working with young people is desirable but not essential as support is available for exceptional candidates yet to achieve qualified teacher status who are able to demonstrate commitment to developing others. An ability to demonstrate appropriate IT skills will be required including working remotely to provide distance learning and support to cohorts of students as required.
Essential qualifications required:
- Level 2 qualification in Maths and English (or equivalent e.g. GCSE grade C or above, GCSE grade 4 or above)
- Level 3 relevant BSE Electrical qualification or equivalent
- A full teaching qualification at Level 5 or above or be willing to work towards obtaining one. If you do not hold a suitable teaching qualification, the college will support you to obtain this as part of our investement in your professional development.
