Actively support Wealth Planners by carrying out high quality research on a full range of financial planning products and services including pensions, life insurance, tax planning and investment management to enable the Wealth Planner to provide a full holistic advice service to clients, which delivers good outcomes. A Paraplanner in this role would have good experience to be able to support Wealth Planners delivering financial planning advice. Prepare client centric suitability reports and other documentation, adhering to the Company’s processes and compliance framework. Paraplanners in this role are proactive in their support to Wealth Planners and take the initiative to maintain their technical knowledge and expertise keeping updated on developments and movements in the financial markets and industry.
At all times those in this role ensures full compliance with the regulatory and organisational procedures, act honestly, fairly and professionally in accordance with the best interests of clients to deliver good outcomes.
Client work
* Undertake appropriate, accurate and relevant research, based on the information gathered by the Wealth Planner, known information for clients in the on-going advice service and existing products/services the client has, to enable the Wealth Planner to recommend a suitable solution to meet the client’s needs and objectives with a good outcome
* Undertake accurate calculations and cash-flow modelling where needed to support recommendations
* Prepare suitability reports and letters for the Wealth Planners to provide their recommendation based on our knowledge of the client, their documented needs, objectives, risk profile, to support a good client outcome, adapting your approach for clients in vulnerable circumstances
* Ensure that drafted suitability reports and other communications are clear, fair, and not misleading
* Draft and co-ordinate technical documents and research for client presentation
* When undertaking research or preparing suitability reports proactively identify areas of potential future advice and raise with the Wealth Planner for them to discuss with the client.
Additional responsibilities
* Undertake technical or any other relevant training to maintain and develop technical knowledge
* Undertake and record relevant Continuous Professional Development (CPD) to develop personal knowledge and skills
* Demonstrate the Fitness and Propriety requirements for the FCA Certification Function for the role to be able to pass the annual assessment and continue to be Certificated by the Company
* Contribute to efficiency improvement initiatives and sharing of best practice
* Continuously seek ways to improve the suitability report templates thus creating efficiency and consistency
* Provide feedback and input on internal processes to ensure the most effective ways of working
* Encourage and support the wider team to work collaboratively with colleagues to deliver good client outcomes.
* Share knowledge and expertise and best practice to the benefit of the team and/or wider business.
* Carry out any other relevant duties within the remit of the role and as reasonably directed by management.
Technical / Qualifications
* Experience of providing a first-class paraplanning service
* Experience in all Financial Planning practices and disciplines including Investments, Pensions and Protection, gaining experience of dealing with more complex areas of financial planning advice
* Educated to at least A Level/Higher standard (or equivalent)
* RQF level 4 Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning (or equivalent)
* Commitment to study towards Advanced Diploma in Financial Planning, with the aim of achieving Chartered Financial Planner status (desirable)
* Continues to be assessed as Fit & Proper to execute their role under the Certification Regime.
