About the role
You'll lead on reception duties while juggling a wide range of tasks, from processing new members and handling phone enquiries, to managing bookings, supporting meetings, and ensuring the smooth running of our space. You'll also provide vital admin support to the Business Support Officer, helping keep operations efficient and youth focused.

Our reception team plays a key role in making sure Horizon is a place they want to come back to again and again
Key responsibilities include:
* Act as the first point of contact for all Youth Zone members, staff, volunteers, visitors, suppliers, and members of the public, creating a welcoming and professional first impression.
* Greet and welcome new members, ensuring they are introduced to the youth work team and supported as they settle in.
* Safeguard junior members (ages 8–12), ensuring they arrive and leave sessions safely under the supervision of a parent or guardian.
* Handle incoming telephone calls and enquiries, take accurate messages, and direct calls appropriately.
* Register members for sessions, support new sign-ups on the membership system, and collect entrance fees (training provided).
You will have experience of:
* Experience managing a reception desk or front-of-house area.
* Experience in working in an administration or customer service role having a friendly, front-facing approach with great customer service skills.
* The ability to build positive relationships with a warm, welcoming approach, a non-judgemental attitude, and a good listening ear.
* Managing cash, stock, and ordering – making sure everything adds up and supplies are well-managed with a clear understanding of the importance of being accurate and trustworthy when it comes to money.
