We have an exciting opportunity for a Graduate Process Engineer to join our in-house design team here at Trant. The Graduate Process Design Engineer will be working within a multi-disciplinary team to initially deliver the detailed designs of the process/chemical aspects of clean and dirty water projects for various water companies in the UK. The design team provide detailed designs for both the Process & Water sector and Energy sector.

Reporting to the Mechanical & Process Design Manager, duties will include but are not limited to:
1. Working as part of a multi-disciplined team
2. Interpret, understand & challenge project requirements from client documents (project scope of work, drawings, specifications, correspondence, etc.)
3. Develop and check process drawings, documentation and detail design deliverables to facilitate the design, installation and commissioning of Water & Wastewater Treatment Plants:
4. Design calculations (ie. mass balance calculations)
5. Design sketches/drawings using CAD software (ie. process flow diagrams, P&ID drawings, etc.)
6. Producing technical reports
7. Process control philosophies
8. Take a role in HAZOP meetings
9. Learn and then apply a fundamental understanding of hydraulics, surge analysis and mitigation, rheology of wastewater sludge, Newtonian and non-Newtonian system dynamics
10. Maintain a technical knowledge base and keep up to date with new methods, products and developments affecting the process engineering discipline and recommend new practices or changes in application
11. Collaborate closely with internal teams, clients, external design partners and subcontractors to develop and deliver innovative, compliant solutions
12. Proactively drive a H&S focus throughout the design process and subsequent delivery phase, instigating development of design risk assessments to address risks identified during review activities
13. Identify and escalate all instances of design change throughout the project lifecycle
14. Undertake technical bid evaluations, subcontractor/supplier design reviews and integrate compliant outputs into the design development process
15. Monitor design effort against budget, schedule and quality requirements
16. Provide technical support and guidance to site teams during installation/commissioning
17. Develop & review project documentation for compliance with relevant Client & UK water industry standards, regulations and Company QA processes
18. Coordinate the project specific design interfaces with Clients, external consultants, subcontractors and suppliers
19. Promote technical excellence and innovation within the team, contributing to the development of new design methodologies and tools
20. Identify engineering solutions to complex problems in a client/stakeholder facing environment
21. Attend industry conferences
Qualifications/requirements:
22. BEng/MEng in Chemical Engineering
23. Competent in Microsoft Office
24. Experience of CAD packages beneficial
25. Full UK Driving licence

About the Graduate Scheme:
The recently updated and improved Trant Graduate Scheme is offered to all Graduates joining the business. This a period of training and development over 24 months, where you are assigned a mentor to carry out basic training associated with your engineering discipline to enable you move from a Graduate Engineer to a Junior Engineer to a fully competent Engineer. You will be given the opportunity to work within our various divisions to gain a variety of project and contract experience.
The Graduate will join their engineering teams (being guided by a mentor) and will achieve competency in a range of engineering tasks. You will be offered membership of the Trant Career Development Association, where you will be provided mentored guidance and support to achieve accreditation and membership with the Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE).
During this time, goals will be set to help you develop your skills and reach your potential and at the end of the 24 months, you should be a competent Engineer and will be well on your journey towards chartership and growing your career.
