> Description Whitefriars Surgery (The Red Practice) is seeking a friendly and organised individual to join its supportive team. The successful candidate will act as the first point of contact for patients, delivering a professional, compassionate, and welcoming service in line with the practice’s CARES values, Compassion, Agility, Respect, Excellence, and Service. You will be responsible for managing appointments, triaging patient queries, and signposting to the appropriate services, while using clinical systems to maintain accurate records and support the smooth running of the practice. Alongside the role, you will work towards a qualification in Digital Applications Support, helping you to build your system knowledge and develop a long-term career while gaining a recognised qualification. Responsibilities: Act as the first point of contact for patients and healthcare professionals via telephone, email, and in person Provide a professional, friendly, and efficient front-of-house service Process appointment requests and manage the practice appointment system Triage patient queries and signpost to the most appropriate service or clinician Develop into a system expert in DOCMAN, managing and processing incoming clinical correspondence Maintain and update accurate patient records using clinical systems (e.g. EMIS/SystmOne/Vision) Accurately input and code patient data (read coding) Initiate and respond to requests from patients, colleagues, and external organisations Process referrals to secondary care and support wider tasks Handle incoming and outgoing correspondence, including post, emails, and documentation Support patient registrations and update personal details as required Process system requests such as SARs, insurance forms, and DVLA documentation Work collaboratively with the wider team to ensure smooth day-to-day practice operations Desirable skills: Friendly, professional, and approachable Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Highly organised with strong attention to detail Able to work both independently and as part of a team Resilient and adaptable in a busy environment Salary: £21,840 per annum Working hours: Monday to Friday, shifts to cover 8am – 6pm Benefits: Flexible working approach to support work-life balance Future prospects: 90% of QA apprentices secure permanent employment after completing: this is 20% higher than the national average.
