Overview
We are seeking a Planning Monitoring Officer to join our Planning Team, to take a lead role in management and maintenance of development monitoring and administration of the Authority’s Land and Property Gazetteer.
You will support colleagues in providing excellent public service and making a difference within the local community. It is essential that you have a genuine enthusiasm for delivering high quality work, are self-motivated and enjoy working with and assisting colleagues within the Authority, the public and our partners.
Candidates from both the public and private sectors are encouraged to apply but must be able to demonstrate an understanding of the role and structure of local government.
Successful candidates will have relevant training in the administration of data and information systems and be able to utilise databases, basic office software and geographic information systems. Candidates will have good written and verbal communication skills. Candidates with past experience in similar roles, including working with partners including Geoplace and Ordnance Survey, and management of complex databases such as the Local Land and Property Gazetteer are welcome but relevant training will be provided.
Responsibilities
* Support the management and maintenance of development monitoring to inform the Authority’s housing land supply and planning evidence base.
* Administer and manage the Land and Property Gazetteer, including complex databases.
* Act as a key contact point for the Planning Team and colleagues across the Authority (e.g., Revenue and Benefits, Highways, Legal Services).
* Undertake surveys of development progress and other site visits as required.
* Contribute to development monitoring and management of developer contributions.
Qualifications and Skills
* Training in administration of data and information systems; ability to use databases, basic office software and geographic information systems (GIS).
* Good written and verbal communication skills.
* Experience in similar roles and with partners such as Geoplace and Ordnance Survey is welcome; training will be provided as needed.
Team Structure
The Planning Team is made up of three teams: (1) Development Management and enforcement; (2) Planning Policy; (3) Technical Administration. This role will be within the Planning Policy Team, reflecting its importance in evidence base development and research, but it supports all aspects of the planning service.
