About Us
3CIX is a specialist turnkey fibre build contractor delivering full end-to-end solutions across the UK telecoms sector. We are seeking experienced Fibre Cable Jointers to join our growing team, supporting our large-scale fibre rollout projects across England, Wales and Scotland.
Role Overview
The Fibre Cable Jointer will be responsible for carrying out splicing, jointing, termination, and testing of fibre optic cables on a variety of telecoms networks. This role involves working on both overhead and underground networks, within single and multi-occupancy dwellings, and ensuring that all work meets client and industry standards for quality and safety.
Key Responsibilities
* Perform fibre splicing, jointing, testing, and fault-finding on live fibre networks.
* Work on overhead, underground, and internal installations as required.
* Ensure compliance with health & safety requirements, including site risk assessments.
* Interpret network diagrams, build plans, and work instructions.
* Install fibre optic cables, closures, and joint boxes to specification.
* Complete OTDR testing and produce accurate test results and reports.
* Work both independently and as part of a team to deliver projects on time and to quality standards.
* Liaise with supervisors, planners, and project managers to resolve issues.
* Maintain tools, equipment, and vehicles in safe working order.
Required Certifications
* Candidates must hold the following valid certifications:
* SA001 – Overhead Safety
* SA002 – Underground Safety
* NRSWAO1 – Signing, Lighting & Guarding (SLG)
* S7
* S8
* SA007 – Asbestos Awareness
* SA020 – Working Safely in Single & Multi-Occupancy Dwellings (Including Buildings)
* SA051C – TETRA
Skills & Experience
* Proven experience as a Fibre Jointer / Fibre Splicer in telecoms networks.
* Knowledge of fibre optic network build standards (Openreach PIA experience desirable).
* Strong ability to read and interpret network schematics and build plans.
* Proficient in OTDR and power meter testing.
* Full UK Driving Licence (essential).
* Ability to work at height and in confined spaces.
* Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
