Electrical Craftsperson – South West Water (Bodmin)
About the role
You will work on a permanent full‑time contract, based in Bodmin, providing a competitive salary of £34,368 – £40,729 per annum with a guaranteed standby allowance (1 in 8 rotation), additional call‑out and overtime payments, a company van and a range of benefits. You will work 37 hours a week and enjoy 1 in 4 Fridays off.
What you’ll be doing
* Take ownership of fault finding, repairing and maintaining electrical, control and process systems across operational sites for both Drinking Water and Waste Water services.
* Carry out planned work from maintenance schedules on operational assets.
* Diagnose faults on all aspects of asset control, electrical systems and automation.
* Work with a mobile field team and liaise with all staff affected by your work.
* Compile or update site engineering documentation to support operational performance.
* Proactively support internal customers in line with the South West Water vision of Trusted, Responsible, Collaborative and Progressive.
* Plan, prioritise and deliver works to meet the maintenance delivery model and operational requirements.
* Adhere to current ISO, H&S systems, procedures and policies.
* Maintain Health & Safety awareness and undertake required training.
* Comply with all business rules relating to maintenance activity.
What we are looking for
* 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) including Maths, English and Science at grade C or above.
* Apprenticeship or relevant formal qualifications (City & Guilds, BTEC, ONC/HNC/HND).
* Compliance with IEE Regulations 18th edition.
* Experience with fault finding and 3‑phase electrical systems.
* A valid UK driving licence.
* Desirable: City & Guilds Inspect & Test 2391‑10; industrial/commercial experience; knowledge of VSDs, soft starts and motor control systems; wiring diagram proficiency; RAMS familiarity; LV system understanding.
