Exciting opportunity for a Qualified/Trainee Assistant Practitioner in Mammography
We would like to hear from self-motivated, enthusiastic Assistant Practitioners in Mammography who possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work within our busy Breast Imaging Service. We also consider applications from Trainee Assistant Practitioners for this role.
The successful applicant will be reliable, friendly, and hardworking, with excellent organisational and communication skills. The ability to integrate well with the existing team and a genuine desire to contribute to service development and quality improvement is essential. Excellent concentration skills, attention to detail, and the ability to empathise with and understand client/patient needs are also required.
Bolton Breast Imaging is committed to providing high-quality care for all clients/patients attending for Breast Imaging. Imaging is undertaken for Bolton Breast Screening and Symptomatic Services, delivered at the base site at Bolton Royal Hospital, and at our three satellite sites in Bolton centre, Radcliffe, and Rochdale.
The service fully supports skill mix, with Consultant, Advanced, Enhanced, and Assistant/Associate Practitioners. We are a progressive service that actively promotes continued professional development.
Role of an Assistant Practitioner in Mammography
The role involves providing and maintaining a high standard of mammography for all patients and clients attending for breast imaging, working under the direct and indirect supervision of a qualified senior radiographer. Responsibilities include:
1. Undertaking daily, weekly, and monthly quality control tests in line with the department’s quality assurance programme.
2. Reporting equipment malfunctions or image deterioration promptly.
3. Engaging in regular self-assessment and peer review of performance, associated with service audits.
4. Participating in continual professional development (CPD).
5. Providing chaperone duties during ultrasound examinations.
6. Assisting consultants and Mammographers during assessment and symptomatic clinics to promote an efficient and caring service.
