Main duties of the job
The post holder is responsible for the management of the Hospital to Home Urology Team during shift, including the organisation of the service and the management of staff and resources. They will be supported by the Lead Nurse and Matron in developing and monitoring the service and the quality of care experienced by patients, to provide a specialist urological nursing service, both clinical and professional, for patients receiving care in their own home.
The post holder will contribute towards the implementation and development of the Hospital to Home Urology Service and will, on a day to day operational basis, be responsible for coordinating and managing service delivery. In order to provide a comprehensive patient service there will be a requirement at times to participate in some acute inpatient activity.
They will be responsible for taking appropriate direct referrals from within the Trust for patients who are under the care of a Urology Consultant/CNS requiring urological care at home. They will provide advice and specialist clinical knowledge across primary and acute care settings and work clinically delivering and maintaining high standards of care and drive towards the Trusts Clinical governance agenda ensuring quality of patient care is central to systems and procedures.

Qualifications
* First level registration with NMC.
* Educated to first degree level or evidence of study at degree level.
* Evidence of professional development and regular study since qualification.
* Evidence of teaching qualification/mentorship degree module/ ENB 998/ Slaip
* Independent Non-Medical Prescribing V300 Qualification
* Post registration experience within a surgical setting.
* Demonstrates developed specialist knowledge and expertise of relevant interventions.
* Effective communicator, able to communicate complex and highly sensitive information appropriately
* Experience of working autonomously and as part of a team.
* Experience of managing a team and other resources during shifts
* Knowledge of clinical audit/research methodologies and effectiveness systems.
* Understanding of the theory and application of Clinical Governance
* Developed and implemented safe systems of work to ensure health and safety of staff and patients.
Skills
* Knowledge of current clinical development, evidence based practices and professional issues affecting nursing.
