9 February 2023
Leeds
Part-Time
Women’s Aid Federation England (WAFE) is the national co-ordinating body for all local and domestic violence services, including refuges in England. It provides information, training, and resources to these services as well as to other agencies. It monitors the experiences of and the provision for women and children suffering abuse. It has lobbied, advocated, and campaigned throughout England since 1974.
Women’s Aid Federation England (WAFE), the Feminist Archive North (FAN), and the University of Leeds Special Collections have collaborated to secure the deposit of the WAFE Archive at the University of Leeds. The role of Collections Officer is key to ensuring the successful capture, digitisation, and promotion of the collection in support of the Project Archivist.
You will work closely with staff in Special Collections, including the Project Archivist to devise and stage volunteer activities such as repackaging and indexing; with the Digital Archivist to assess digital content like floppy disks, secure disk images, and extract content for cataloguing; and with Digitisation Studio staff on digitising key papers. You will also serve as a contact for academic researchers, providing content for events and activities as milestones are reached.
